Not a great amount of progress this workweek.  Plugging along on posting the inventory.  Been putting up some great music.  Just a small sample of what I put on today.  I love the cover art for the Yellow Swans album.  The Marvin Gaye has his best songs.  Although I've never listened to the Ashley Parker Angel CD, it does sell pretty well on eBay.  My goal is to be up an running in 10 days.  I guess I'd better get busy!

Taxes

This weekend I have forced myself to focus on our taxes instead of having fun with the store.  The taxes are a drag because I lost all my Quicken data when I had a virus a few months ago.  On the plus side, we received our new business license from the state so we are all official now. I also got some CDs listed on the new site, about 10 total so only 490 more to go.  So much to do and tomorrow is already Monday.  Here's to a great weekend, hope yours was as well.

ak Music Storm's Logo
Woo Hoo! There it is, the new logo for the new store.  What do you think.  I wanted edgy yet pretty and I think I found it.  Today is still a learning day with Volusion, Shutterstock and more.  I made a few mistakes but still made a little progress.  I have to admit that I am in love, love, love with the image.

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Well, at least it's a Wednesday.  After a workday of soothing stressed souls, collecting people's hard earned money that they don't really want to part with and passing out tokens for the prize box, I'm finally home.  If you haven't figured it out, I'm an office manager for the local dentist.  So for fun tonight, I went and picked out an image for our store logo.  I can't wait to reveal it you soon because I think it is awesome.  I also filled out the application for our new business license.  Two things off the checklist.  Not bad for a Wednesday.

Week one of starting the new store

Wow, what a week!  After paying off our high eBay fees and a few other experiences, we decided to go for it and start a new online store independent of eBay and Amazon.  First order of business, and hopefully the hardest task was naming the store.  Just let me say, it's not easy.  You agree on a name and the domain is unavailable and so forth.  Finally, after hours of debates, long silences and hair pulling we agree upon ak Music Storm.

Why that name?  Primarily, we are selling used CDs and iPods and the males in the family wouldn't let me call it musicbabes.com.  I fought hard for it and lost.  What do you think?  I hope it's catchy and easy to remember.  Now I'm trying to find the best artwork, set up this blog, design the website, and import the inventory.  If that doesn't seem t be enough, I still get to chase after the toddler, work the day job, run the eBay store and do the taxes.  But I'm lovin' life in Alaska!

So please excuse that this blog is still unadorned.  I'm the type that likes to have everything pretty so it will get beautified soon.   Just wanted to say hi.
